It is a butternut wooly worm.. It's probably just a little bit younger than what you found. I also found some of the younger, hairless ones nearby. Not a caterpillar of butterfly or moth type , but the Larvae of a type of "Sawfly". I found the answer on the "What's that Bug?" web site. Yours is slightly different from mine but similar.
